President's Message from District Council

This month marks a momentous occasion for our section. Late last September, Pat Luke and Ellen Dunbar came to visit our section to see what we could do to revive and sustain ourselves. It has been a lot of work, a lot of learning and a lot of fun!

Within this year we…

  • went from two current and active members to 10 members strong! We have 5 aspiring and 5 that have chosen to stay on with our craziness and love for what we do. We had a visitor come this month that can’t wait to sign up and join us as well.

  • established our constitution and bylaws, set regular meeting dates, time and location (although our location has moved due to the increase in attendance).

  • have had such programs to include topics of posing, post production workflow, studio lighting, how to write compelling text for our websites, pricing and production guides, the art of self-assignment, and making connections with family photography.

We all have learned so much along the way to include setting a budget and how to making connections to share the reality of our passion not only for what we do as professionals, but for this organization that has helped so many of us with our skills and confidence.

As we prepare for the end of this year we will be nominating and voting in new officers, experience running our first collaborative event with our zombie shoot in downtown Watertown, learning more about senior moments with Pat Luke and celebrating an amazing year with our first NNYPP Christmas party.

To reflect on where we have come from in just a year, makes me excited to see what is in store for our growing section in the year to come.
